Drop-In Counselling

When is it?

Drop-in counselling takes place Fridays, from 1:00 PM—3:00 PM. It operates on a “first come, first served” basis.

Who is it for?

Drop-in counselling is open to those 12 years of age and older and is designed for people seeking immediate support about a specific problem through brief skill-building, assistance in problem-solving, the provision of basic tools, or help with a referral for other services at CFEC or within the community.

Please note that drop-in counselling is not designed to address the needs of people who are actively suicidal.

What happens?

Service is “first come, first served” and space is limited.

Check in at the reception desk (in-person or over telephone) between noon and 2:30pm (the cut-off for the last available appointment). You will be asked to complete intake forms before seeing the on-call counsellor for that day. Appointments are usually in-office, but if you require alternate arrangements please speak to frontdesk and we will try to accommodate.

Sessions are generally 50 minutes in length. We follow the single session and solution-focused brief therapy models.

While you may access the drop-in service multiple times, general counselling services are more appropriate if you find yourself returning for the same issue more than a few times.
