Resources for Parents and Caregivers of Children Ages 0-5

CFEC provides early years programs, resources and supplies to support parents and caregivers through pregnancy and the toddler years.

With CFEC Early Years, parents and caregivers can access everything they need to help nurture children from ages 0-5! They can access services like child development information, support, and assessment. They can make connections to health services, intervention supports, and community supports. They can meet other families through fun events with our monthly activity calendar. On top of all this, CFEC hosts several fun early years events throughout the year!

  • Nobody’s Perfect parenting program

Our Early Learning Room

Open to the public daily!

CFEC Early Years hosts a space called the Early Learning Room where Parents/Caregivers and their children ages 0-5 can learn and play. Open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-3:30 PM, the Early Learning Room offers use of learning stations, arts and crafts, and toys to make fun, creative bonding experiences.

Prenatal Services

Promoting Healthy Pregnancy and Birth

Our early years team offer pregnant and postnatal parents information supporting healthy pregnancy, informed birth experience, and resources to assist parents and their infants.

Nutrition Program

We provide free nutritional support for prenatal and postpartum parents who register, including:

  • Free prenatal vitamins: Free multi-vitamins specific for pregnancy
  • Free vitamin D drops for infants and children

Free Infant Supplies

Cariboo Kids offers free infant supplies including: diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, baby bath items, and gently used infant clothing.

BC Pregnancy Outreach Program (P.O.P.)

The P.O.P. drop-in group meets regularly and features discussion of issues and concerns relating to pregnancy and parenting of newborns and toddlers. Here, you can meet other pregnant parents, and parents of infants and toddlers, who are going through the same journey as you! Some examples of topics covered by the program include nutrition, sleep, relationships, and child development. This program is offered in a safe, confidential, and inclusive setting, and snacks are provided!

Postpartum Support Group

Our Postpartum Support Group is open to new parents/guardians of all genders who have a baby under the age of 24 months. The group will cover a variety of topics, including those related to:

  • “Mom” guilt: balancing multiple responsibilities
  • Myths and expectations of parenthood
  • Managing stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Parenting and baby basics

This group requires regestration and meets Wednesdays 10:00 AM-11:30 AM
at the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre.
