It is with very heavy hearts that we share that the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre Society (CFEC) will be closing its doors on November 13, 2026. There have already been questions and rumours circulating, and we want our community to hear this news directly from us.
CFEC has been part of the South Cariboo since 1988. For nearly 40 years, we have had the privilege of supporting children, youth, families, and individuals in our community through programs, resources, connection, and a helping hand when it was needed.
This decision has not been made lightly. Like many non-profit organizations, CFEC has faced increasing challenges in securing the sustainable funding needed to continue operating. After careful consideration, the Board has determined that there simply is not enough long-term funding to make the organization financially viable.
This will be a significant loss to our community. CFEC has been woven into the lives of so many people over the years, and behind every program are relationships, memories, and people who have made this organization what it is. Even though CFEC is closing, we are actively working to find new homes for our services and programs with our community partners. We will share more information as those details are finalized.
We are incredibly grateful to our staff, volunteers, board members, funders, community partners, and everyone who has supported CFEC throughout the years. Most of all, we are grateful to the people and families who trusted us to be part of their lives.
This is a heartbreaking chapter for CFEC and for the South Cariboo. Thank you for allowing us nearly four decades. It has been an honour.
